365 Days of Tommy P: Day 243

Monday, August 31, 2009 (243)

El Guitarrista

Playing guitar at Oscar’s apartment, waiting for him and Eric Stang to wrap up recording synths and Stang’s new track “Distraction.”

Listening to tracks from the Violet Winter debut album. We finished tracking the album tonight. All that is left is to mix “Break,” and “Becoming.” Then we master!

365 Days of Tommy P: Day 242

Sunday, August 30, 2009 (242)

Oscar and I had a meeting with the artist who is doing to artwork for the Violet Winter album.

Then we sat down and discussed and renewed our plan of action and schedule of events for the next few months for Violet Winter. We now have a tentative release date for the album (to be announced).

365 Days of Tommy P: Day 241

Saturday, August 29, 2009 (241)

Timmy’s last night in town before heading back off to college. See you Parent’s Weekend!

I went to Nine Inch Nails at the Aragon Ballroom with Oscar. It was a fantastic performance. Peter Murphy came out for about twenty to thirty minutes and performed with them. Awesome!

365 Days of Tommy P: Day 240

Friday, August 28, 2009 (240)

What do you want me to do? Apologize for my actions? Because that’s not going to happen.

365 Days of Tommy P: Day 239

Thursday, August 27, 2009 (239)

Awesome time at Disappear Here at AK47 with Dark Wave Disco headlining. Wouldn’t you know it, just my luck, my camera died just as I was taking a picture with Mat Devine. So there are no pictures of the rowdiness or of all of the familiar faces.

365 Days of Tommy P: Day 238

Wednesday, August 26, 2009 (238)

J- Forest (of The BLB) came down to River North to check out Third Coast Recording Company.

Here we are on the roof.

I patted Splinter on her back and told her that it was fun hanging out.

365 Days of Tommy P: Day 234

Saturday, August 22, 2009 (234)

The BLB’s J-Forest left me in charge of his cooler and let me have his remaining beverages. Some rowdies and I spent the evening in the back room of the Soda Bar. That is all that I can really say about what went down.

365 Days of Tommy P: Day 233

Friday, August 21, 2009 (233)

My brother and I set up a party room in the basement of our father’s cottage in Michigan. We dubbed it, “The Wrecked Room.” The helm on the wall is labeled with different drinking related commands that one must do. Everyone spins the wheel upon entrance.

We stayed in tonight with our sister, and a cousin.

365 Days of Tommy P: Day 232

Thursday, August 20, 2009 (232)

I like this one because it combines two of my favorite elements, multiple Tommy P’s, and aged colours.

365 Days of Tommy P: Day 231

Wednesday, August 19, 2009 (231)

Internetting hard, or hardly internetting?

Hardly internetting. The connection where I am in Michigan is worse than dial-up.

365 Days of Tommy P: Day 230

Tuesday, August 18, 2009 (230)

Another day and night of recording vocals for The BLB. J-Forest was in the background doing obscene things, but he didn’t actually manage to get in frame.

365 Days of Tommy P: Day 229

Monday, August 17, 2009 (229)

I had to make another trip back to Chicago to return some gear to Third Coast Recording Company. I was planning on turning around and heading back to Michigan. Then I ran into Oscar.

Oscar: “What are you doing tonight?”
Tommy P: “Driving back.”
Oscar: “Wanna go to Rehab?”
Tommy P: “Yes.”

I had packed a shirt because I knew all along what I was really going to end up doing that night.

Here we are with Nino during Rehab at the Debonair Social Club.

After closing out another great night, I spotted a field of grass on my solo walk to Oscar’s apartment. Since I was not the least bit tired (Day 221: “Five is the new two.”) I jumped the fence to enjoy the rare existence of wild overgrown grass in the city.

365 Days of Tommy P: Day 228

Sunday, August 16, 2009 (228)

It hasn’t been this quiet here since before Memorial Day weekend. Erie. J-Forest and I and trekking through vocal tracking for The BLB.

365 Days of Tommy P: Day 227

Saturday, August 15, 2009 (227)

It was a lot of people’s last night so we had another bonfire in the Half Bowl so that we wouldn’t be disturbed by false accusations of us disturbing others (as was the case the previous evening). It didn’t take long until I had my shirt off and started doing flips over the bonfire. I’m a role model.

365 Days of Tommy P: Day 226

Friday, August 14, 2009 (226)

Our last picture of the summer together.

An intoxicated older gentleman decided that we were no longer aloud to have fun, so he called the police and they tried to end our bonfire. The cops who arrived were the same ones who (unsuccessfully) tried to bust our Ethnic Dinner ’08 party. They should have remembered that we would laugh in their faces whenever they ask us for our IDs. No one carries wallets around here (and this night everyone was of age).

They left their car far away from the bonfire, out of sight and sound, it was running, and unlocked.

The cops came in too hot at our fire and immediately started using obscene language with us. Our party was quiet until they showed up, then everything went to hell (ironically they were called because of a noise complaint and it wasn't loud until the arrived). Cab (pictured above with me and the constable's patrol vehicle) said he wanted to file a complaint because of the officer's vulgar and unwarranted language. One of them gave Cab his card. When we went back to a cottage to continue our shindig, we passed the card around and all had a good laugh.

I especially enjoyed that he was the assistant to the Crime Scene Tech. And not actually a full-fledged Crime Scene Tech. himself. I also got a good laugh at the fact that his e-mail address is through AOL. The force couldn't spring a domain of their own.

365 Days of Tommy P: Day 225

Thursday, August 13, 2009 (225)

I had to make a day trip back into Chicago to convert some Pro Tools session files in preparation for the recording of The BLB’s sophomore album. I made it back to the bonfire in Michigan in time to see minors exploding beer cans in the fire. That’s called alcohol abuse.

After the fire.

365 Days of Tommy P: Day 224

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 (224)

“Yeah, syrup is better than jelly.”

Last man standing.

Watching debris rain into our atmosphere, the Perseids meteor shower. I was fortunate to be out of the city for this so that I could see as many as I did. There wasn't a cloud in the sky.

365 Days of Tommy P: Day 223

I spent the night walking around until sunrise writing prose.

365 Days of Tommy P: Day 222

Monday, August 10, 2009 (222)

The gang had a dinner party at our traditional Italian eatery, yet another check off of the list of what to do to make a complete summer.

365 Days of Tommy P: Day 221

Sunday, August 9, 2009 (221)

Loony.

We're kind of offended, I guess.

This is Little Red Riding Hood, or something.

Keepin the dream alive until 5 A.M. as usual. “Five is the new two.”

365 Days of Tommy P: Day 220

Saturday, August 8, 2009 (220)

Beach volleyball was very hot this summer.

The BLB played their first concert in a year. The after party was of course a bonfire at CHB. I stripped and went for a swim; a trend that quickly caught on.

365 Days of Tommy P: Day 219

Friday, August 7, 2009 (219)

Tie-Dye Shirt Night ( / J-Forest’s first day night back in Michigan from China). We do it every year. I was sporting a youth large which I predictably took off early in the night, because raging and wearing shirts go together like water and electricity.

365 Days of Tommy P: Day 216

Tuesday, August 4, 2009 (216)

A bonfire in the Half Bowl was promptly followed by a trip to Ma’s Coffee Pot Truck Stop at 3 A.M. for biscuits and gravy. (Another check on the list of things to do to make a complete summer).

365 Days of Tommy P: Day 215

Monday, August 3, 2009 (215)

Party at The Water Tower.

The boys seemed to have trouble opening their eyes. And because of the way we're holding each other I look really short.
